Video Tape & DVD Copy Service
An excellent, cost effective solution for all your videotape & DVD copy needs.
IMPORTANT. We charge per tape NOT (as many other companies do) per hour. We think this is the fairest way as it is not likely you will know the length of your tapes.
You will always receive a written quotation so there are no surprises on the invoice.

Conversion of any tape (recorded at SP) to DVD is £30 and to video file is £25.
If you choose video file there will be an additional nominal charge for a download link, a USB drive or you can send a suitable drive with your tapes. We can also convert your own video files to playable DVD. If your tape is recorded in Long Play there will be an additional charge but we will not proceed until you have agreed to it.
If you are interested in a free no-obligation quotation please send details of your requirements via email or the contact form, giving details of your tapes and how you want them converted, and we will get back to you with a price. If you are not sure what format of tape you have please email a picture and we will identify it for you. If you have any other questions please email info@memoriesfromtape.co.uk or call 0117-2510069 and we will be happy to help.

We use the best equipment and have a real personal service ethos to give you the best value for money product possible.
We assume your tape is recorded at the standard recording speed for the format unless you inform us to the contrary. If we quote for a tape and discover it is in long play we will contact you to make sure you wish us to proceed as this may entail additional cost.
No deposit or pre-payment required. We do the work first - that's the priority!
We can convert and copy from VHS, S-VHS, VHS-C (Compact), Video8, Hi8, Digital8 or Mini DV formats to top quality DVD disc, onto a file video format or a combination of DVD and one file format. We are no longer able to convert Betamax tapes.
The DVD discs we use are high quality 4.7 GB single layer and, if requested, we will label any discs with your choice of text.
All copies are normally straight conversions of the original tapes but minor editing (as stated below) or enhancement is included and we will adjust brightness, contrast and colour saturation levels if required to obtain the best copy possible. However, unlike many other companies, we will edit out any footage which obviously isn't required (e.g. old TV shows) on request or if we notice such footage ourselves, at no additional charge.
We can also undertake more extensive editing, include menus and chapters at additional cost. Please ask for details
We can also produce multiple copies of your own DVDs, conversion of your own video files from one format to another and copying of personal movie files to DVD. Please contact us for more information.
The Technical Bits
For S-VHS, VHS and VHS-C we use JVC 8000 series S-VHS machines. Crucial for VHS conversion these machines have TBC (Time Base Correction), which corrects the signal and/or image quality of videotapes allowing for a much cleaner and error free transfer. To see the difference between a VHS tape copied with and without TBC please take a look at this link.
For Mini-DV we do not use cameras as many companies do. Our machines are Sony DHR-1000B and DSR-11 machines especially developed for professional Mini-DV editing and playback.
These machines do make a difference to the finished product and we believe we are the one of very few companies (perhaps the only company) in the UK offering this level of technology (combined with a very personal service ethos) at such a reasonable cost.
To ensure the best copy of your tape it may be necessary to use more than one DVD dependent on the running time of the taped material. There is no additional charge for this. Return postage costs depend on what you would want returned. Our default is to quote for sending all your tapes back with the converted media. However, you can choose not to have the original tapes returned in which case the media is returned at a reduced cost.
We can accept tapes delivered by hand or mailed to Memories From Tape, Lavender House, 1 Wheelers Patch, Emersons Green, Bristol, BS16 7JL. If you are bringing tapes yourself please call or email beforehand.
We will endeavour at all times to handle your treasured memories with due care and diligence, but tapes can deteriorate over time for many reasons, including wear and tear, storage conditions and old age, and can occasionally break when played due to material degradation. Unfortunately if this happens during processing Memories From Tape cannot be held responsible for replacement and will not be held liable for any compensation whatsoever.
Sometimes tapes have degraded to the point where they are beyond saving. If this is the case your tapes are returned to you with no charge and at our expense. If we cannot convert them it costs you nothing.
It is assumed your tapes are recorded at the standard speed of the format unless you inform us to the contrary.
Payment can be made on collection/return of media by cash, MasterCard or Visa. For media returned via Royal Mail payment can be made by bank transfer or online with PayPal, MasterCard or Visa prior to dispatch by going to the Invoice Payment page here.
As I am sure you can appreciate your tapes have to be processed in real time. For example a one hour tape will take one hour just for the initial copy process. Total processing time for a one hour tape is in excess of two hours. We endeavour to complete your order within one week but in certain circumstances it may be longer. We will always give you a target completion date with your quotation.
